Endeavour Flying Over The Hollywood Sign
Endeavour Flying Over The Hollywood Sign. Flying past landmarks including the Hollywood sign and the Golden Gate Bridge, the 75-ton spaceship was carried on the back of a modified Boeing 747 for its final journey.
It will now spend the rest of its retirement at the California Science Centre where it will be put on display.
Endeavour, one of five space shuttles built by NASA, flew more than 115 million miles in its two decade career and completed its final mission last year by delivering supplies and scientific instruments to the International Space Station.
It was built just north of Los Angeles as a replacement for the Challenger space shuttle, which disintegrated after take off in 1986.
On Friday, Endeavour made a home coming when it touched down at Los Angeles International Airport atop the specially adapted jumbo jet.
I was so excited when I heard the Endeavour was making a fly over LA. I was in San Diego at the time and drove up to LA to the Griffith Observatory, along with thousands of other people, and shot this from there. It was very exciting for all people watching.
